The Combinator 5000 works in tandem with a “Face Collector,” a selfie booth with a two-way mirror where visitors capture their own portraits. The system aligns and splices together all the incoming images. There will be two booths with different lighting designs, emphasizing through the captured images how our environment shapes the way we’re perceived.

The images are sent to the Combinator for processing after which the combined face will be displayed on a large screen. There will also be letter size prints of the various faces feeding out continuously from a printer, becoming a physical representation of human assimilation.

“Becoming Whole” intermingles the images of strangers, creating new identities, asking viewers if they can meld, mix and resonate with others while remaining autonomous individuals.
